New focus and musical direction for Enderby Band

Enderby Band (Midlands Championship Section) announces a new focus and direction in musical leadership.

As part of this new strategy, the band has parted company with Gareth Westwood. The band would like to thank Gareth for his time and effort towards the band’s development and wishes him well for the future.

The band is delighted to have secured the services of Jack Capstaff who will lead the band from August to the end of 2026, through their autumnal semester of concerts and contests.

As one of the leading conductors of his generation, Jack is renowned in the brass band movement, as well as being highly sought after by numerous orchestral and choral organisations. He is also an acclaimed brass band adjudicator and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Brass Band Conductors’ Association.

Commenting on the changes, Band Chairperson Vikki Oates said

“The Enderby Band is focussed on strengthening its position in the Midlands Championship Section and to do so, we strive for development at pace whilst providing a rewarding bandroom experience for our committed players.

We are delighted to once again be working with Jack who will lead us into the New Year and shortly we will be able to confirm the well-known face that will lead the band for the important Area and Spring Festival contests in 2027”
